Reporting into the Global EHS Lead. Based in Portchester, UK. The primary purpose of this position is delivering global success in SMR’s environmental & sustainability projects and agenda, inline with customer expectations and divisional strategies, projects, aligned to a carbon net zero approach. In addition, the purpose is to take accountability for sustainability questionnaires/assessments, RFQ data collection and improvement, divisional climate transition plans (CTPs), energy management and assessments and sustainability legal awareness.

Your tasks:

  • To lead by example on Motherson’s/SMR’s policies and their application to own role and divisional interactions.
  • To comply with all SMR’s Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and workplace expectations, while maintain your duty of care to yourself, your colleagues and the environment.
  • Ensure the health & safety of oneself and others by taking duty of care and adhering to SMR’s policy, procedures, and requirements.
  • To liaise with divisional colleagues to produce sustainability assessments and validated data according to divisional timelines. Inclusive of BRSR, CDP, SAQ, EcoVadis, DERI, CSRD, M2030 and others.
  • Work with divisional colleagues to identify improvements and projects yearon-year, validated through increased scores achieved. This is both from forward planning responses and detailed analysis of previous assessments, producing action plans which you will own and deliver.
  • Support Gensuite (BG) cross-over to our teams and plants.
  • Direct through process and operation activity, data automation to drive data efficiencies through multiple platforms.
  • Manage and update our RFQ EHS standard response database, aligning customer expectations.
  • To support and communicate sustainability related legal obligations and best practices, including sustainability developments across our global operational locations.
  • To manage and drive Energy Officer communications, meetings and events, to deliver divisional requirements and improve competencies.
  • To work with our divisional teams to deliver our GHG protocol requirements i.e. GHG Scope 3 target areas, to maximise our sustainability score impact across our assessments and PCF/CCF projects and activity, including RFQs.
  • Continuous improvements and developments are anticipated as normal.
  • To continuously improve our divisional climate transition plans towards a 2040 net zero target, as well as specific customer requirements.
  • Review continuous improvement reports to improve the divisional transition  plans via working with respective plants and teams, producing workable examples/plans.
  • Manage and update SMR’s Best Practice Register, with monthly releases to continuously drive CTP efficiencies, reporting upon live status monthly.
  • To liaise with all plant teams frequently to maintain their 2040 net zero target, highlighting any deviations including Capex/Opex deviations.
  • Analyse environmental and sustainability data to produce monthly reports, highlighted strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • Track and monitor all Co2 emissions from CTP and energy analysis.
  • Drive energy management campaigns to deliver best in class results.
  • Coordinate and enhance energy site surveys and assessments, and undertake assessments/audits to support plants attain energy reductions as part of their overall CTP activity.
  • Set minimum improvements for each location.
  • Mentor and support Energy Officers, operational teams and others to continuously improve energy management divisionally and carbon emissions.
  • To support ISO system audits divisionally, and our plants with their findings and solutions. We operate ISO 50001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Support divisional energy & sustainability strategy aligned to our EHS obligations, customer requirements and business direction.
  • Carry out projects and duties as directed from time to time in line with policy and procedure and as directed by management and operational requirements.
  • Develop training materials to support EHS requirements i.e. energy & sustainability competencies and training, as requested.

 

Your profile:

  • Bachelor degree in environmental management and sustainability, or equivalent experience.
  • Diploma in sustainability specific qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • Optional, ISO 50001 auditor qualification/energy management auditor (EMAS)
  • Optional, ISO 14001 auditor qualification
  • Proven operational experience working on environmental and sustainability in a global multi-site environment, ideally within automotive or manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in energy management and undertaking audits and assessments/inspections.
  • Life cycle analysis of products and components, including ‘cradle to grave’ principles.
  • Waste management solutions/recycling and reduction. CMRT impact.
  • Delivering environmental continuous improvement programmes.
  • Advanced data analysis utilising Microsoft and other platforms.
  • Track record of being able to build, develop and foster relationships across all levels of an organisation to drive, achieve and influence results and change.
  • Optional, Global recognised environmental or sustainability professional membership i.e. IEMA.
  • Broad knowledge of global environmental and sustainability legal (ideally both UK and international) requirements and best practices, ideally from a global workplace.
  • Energy management in non-BMS type buildings (SEU), including modern energy management practices and toolkits.
  • Climate transition to net zero operational practices.
  • Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions (GHG protocols)
  • ISO: 50001 systems and toolkits for energy management/sustainability.
  • Advanced IT skills with the ability to analyse complex data manually and using platforms.
  • Strong and positive communicator across diverse global cultures.
  • Energy audit and assessment experience on-sites.
  • Use of audit and inspection toolkits and database management.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining deliverables and multi-level engagement.
  • Delivering and developing training within environmental, energy management or sustainability areas.
  • Motivate teams and individuals to engage and deliver divisional requirements in a global organisation.
  • Ability to travel globally to support EHS activity and undertake audits, assessments and inspections on a risk and priority basis.
